Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Helsinki keeps a big secret--and travelers are only now beginning to realize just how much the city has to offer. With a strategic archipelago location, surrounded by the Baltic Sea, the city's cool urban lifestyle mixes seamlessly with its prominent Russian history. Mooch around the numerous museums and galleries, enjoy a classical opera, or join the in-crowd on a tour of the most stylish restaurants, bars, and clubs. Or, for the more adventurous, why not try an invigorating burst of ice-swimming or cross-country skiing? And no matter what time of year it is, no trip would be complete without indulging in the true Finnish passion, a traditional sauna.
Features include:
*The best restaurants, cafes, bars, and clubs
*Where to stay, from luxury to budget
*Full coverage of the sights including walking tours and excursions from the city
*A guide to Finnish sauna history and etiquette
*An introduction to the Finnish language

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Dinky book fits in pocket.   May 11, 2008
I was expecting something larger with better maps, but still this pocket-size book is filled with fascinating, up-to-date information. I had last visited Helsinki in 1974, so I was surprised to see how the country has changed. I found references to many valuable Finnish websites that expand on what's found in this book. The book is also valuable in informing how much money (Euros!) it costs to visit. Overall, the book decreased my pre-trip anxieties about visiting a foreign country.

I love the Bradt guide series and am so glad she has branched out to the more popluated cities and countries. No guide has the info that a Bradt guide does.
