Product Description
Brigitte Gabriel lost her childhood to militant Islam. In 1975 she was ten years old and living in Southern Lebanon when militant Muslims from throughout the Middle East poured into her country and declared jihad against the Lebanese Christians. Lebanon was the only Christian influenced country in the Middle East, and the Lebanese Civil War was the first front in what has become the worldwide jihad of fundamentalist Islam against non-Muslim peoples. For seven years, Brigitte and her parents lived in an underground bomb shelter. They had no running water or electricity and very little food; at times they were reduced to boiling grass to survive. Because They Hate is a political wake-up call told through a very personal memoir frame. Brigitte warns that the US is threatened by fundamentalist Islamic theology in the same way Lebanon was— radical Islam will stop at nothing short of domination of all non-Muslim countries. Gabriel saw this mission start in Lebanon, and she refuses to stand silently by while it happens here. Gabriel sees in the West a lack of understanding and a blatant ignorance of the ways and thinking of the Middle East. She also points out mistakes the West has made in consistently underestimating the single-mindedness with which fundamentalist Islam has pursued its goals over the past thirty years. Fiercely articulate and passionately committed, Gabriel tells her own story as well as outlines the history, social movements, and religious divisions that have led to this critical historical conflict.

Excellent! November 29, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have never felt compelled to write a book review on Amazon, even though I read a ton of books. This book, however, I found to have opened my eyes, educated me in a way that only a first hand survivor could, such as Brigitte, and found it to be a must read for all Americans. I highly recommend you take the time to read this book. I believe our life as we know it depends on us understanding what really is going on around us and therefore we can see what is truly at stake, and what is probably the driving force behind Brigitte writing her books. She's lived it before and she sees it happening again in America and she is trying to get others in America to see what she sees through experience.
A must read!! November 16, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book must be read by everyone. Everyone must know the truth about Islam. Brigitte Gabriel tells a chilling story of survival I did not know about. Everyone must listen to her.
Good read with an important lesson. November 15, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I enjoyed this book, especially the first half or so. I couldn't help but be moved by Gabriel's first hand account of life in Lebanon under siege. While I agree with Gabriel that Islam is a dangerous religion that needs to be stopped (hopefully through reason and education), she is too quick to conclude that Christianity is the solution. While Christianity isn't as harsh in it's treatment of apostates, it is still harsh. I think most Christians would summarize their belief as t the Creator of the Universe takes an active interest in me, approves of me, loves me, and will reward me after death; my current beliefs, drawn from scripture, will remain the best statement of the truth until the end of the world; everyone who disagrees with me will spend eternity in hell. The Muslim faith just takes things one step further in its dogma and threatens apostates with death. Replacing one religion with another one is not the answer. These primitive tribal beliefs systems (a.k.a. religions) need to be exposed to the harsh light of reality before it kills us.

Every American needs to read this book. It is not only a riveting story, but the information is invaluable in understanding the true Islamic agenda.
Because They Hate: A must read for everyone October 20, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is an excellent and informative book that is a must read for everyone concerned about the rise of Islam in the US and all over the world. It is a wake up call. Brigitte details her secure and loving life in Lebanon and how it was shattered with the outbreak of the civil war, which was actually an Islamic jihad to take over and dominate the country. I was totally riveted by her frank and well written expose of how it was done and why. The same patterns of Moslem behavior in Lebanon can be seen today all over the rest of the world.
