Product Description
Vilnius completes a trilogy of Bradt pocket-size guides to the Baltic capitals, providing all the essential listings and background on these new European members. Highlights of each city quarter are presented in a comprehensive city tour that takes in the cathedral, archaeological exhibitions, the old university with its astronomical observatory, and the Gates of Dawn (Lithuania's most famous place of pilgrimage). No stay in Vilnius would be complete without a visit to the nearby Trakai National Park, with its picturesque medieval island castle and old town, home to the Karaites sect.
This guide features: >Exploring Vilnius's Old Town, castles, churches, and monuments >Hotel suggestions to suit every budget and taste >Restaurants, including local specialties and where to find live folk music >Transportation within and beyond the city, and other practicalities

Vilnius Made Easy June 5, 2008 I used this little book to plan my recent (May 2008) stay in Vilnius. While the book was published in 2006, it remains accurate, though there are some minor discrepancies (the population is given as 553,000 on p. xiv, but 580,000 on p. 18). I booked my housing based on its recommendations, and used the hotel internet address it gave to make my reservations from the USA. The text is designed for a British audience, but this is hardly evident except that the Lithuanian currency is compared to pounds rather than to dollars. All the museums and restaurants that I visited confirmed the recommendations in the book. Rather than going with a formal tour group to the city, the Bradt guide was all that I needed. The book is not only accurate, but engagingly written. You can trust Jarvis and Taylor, the authors, to guide you to a great time in Vilnius!

Another perfect little light weight guide to a European Capitol with enough information for a short stay with walking tours, hotels and restaurants.
Would have preferred a little more of a vocabulary for food items.
Useful little guide July 14, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This little guide was a massive help on our recent stay in Vilnius, a lovely, charming city with a gorgeous Old Town. The guide advised us where to eat and what to see in a really handy pocket format (why hasn't anyone thought of this pocket-sized format before?). All in all, an indispensible book if you spend a weekend, week or more seeing this beautiful city.
