Serviceable much? June 15, 2008 This was a very usable and serviceable guide in to Yucatan travel. If offers quite a detailed description on the region's history and culture from those who would know it best. If you're looking for guide through part of Mexico's heritage this is a good guide to take with you.
Eh. Moon guide was much better. May 10, 2008 I have always had good luck with Lonely Planet books, I found this to be lacking information in the depth needed. The Moon book we took seemed to have better, more accurate and just plain more information. Good if you want a smaller, abbreviated book with you.
Great basic guide! March 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great basic guide that will get you started on your Yucatan adventure. If you've never been to the Yucatan then this is an easy read that will serve as a great introduction. However, if you have already spent an extensive amount of time in the area then you will probably quickly find some of that there is quite a bit of outdated information (for example there's no discounted entry to Chichen Itza). Also you can get a lot of great car rental deals from the local guys (i.e. not Budget and AVIS) - we rented a great car for $35 a day with unlimited mileage! I recommend this guide to the first time visitor.
An o.k. Lonely Planet guide. January 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
An o.k. Lonely Planet guide. Opt for: Yucatan & Mayan Mexico, 3rd (Country & Regional Guides - Cadogan) instead.
Can't go owrong with lonely planet November 20, 2007 Excellent, updated friendly guide, with all of the necessary ins-and-outs. Purchased after using other guides from Lonely Planet.
