Product Description Slap Shot ranks as one of the most popular sports movies of all time, and the bespectacled, fighting Hanson Brothers are among the most memorable characters ever spawned by the silver screen. Now, one of the brothers--real-life hockey player Dave Hanson--invites readers onto the movie set and into the rough-and-tumble world of minor-league hockey in this hysterical and highly anticipated autobiography. Follow Hanson's fascinating life from the tough neighborhoods of St. Paul, Minnesota, to Johnstown, Pennsylvania, where he played for the Jets and made hockey's greatest movie (chumming with Paul Newman and getting involved in all kinds of mischief), and on to the NHL, where his boyhood dreams were fulfilled. Hanson's story--filled with both hilarity and adversity--will make you laugh out loud and warm your heart.

Absolute Original January 6, 2009 If you love "Old time hockey" you will love this book. Dave takes you into his life from the very beggining and tells about life in hockey while trying to make it to the "show". And when he finally gets the call, he shows up meets the owner and is handed..... well, get the book and see. I can not tell his story as well as he can. From the locker rooms to backsatge on the set of SLAP SHOT to the fights you will live the life through his words and enjoy the ride. Without a doubt, GET this book.
Hilarious December 20, 2008 Great literature it's not, but for a fan of "Slapshot", it's must reading. It's the story behind the story.
CURSES!!! ''F0lLED'' AGAlN!!! November 18, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Dave shoots and scores with this whimsical tale of how he accidently became a movie star. 0ne day he's toiling in the rough and tumble world of hockey's minor leagues hoping to be discovered by an NHL scout. lnstead he's discovered by a talent scout and the next thing he knows, he's hanging out with Cool Hand Luke.
While the movie toiled in obscurity, Dave was making a name for himself in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings and the Minnesota North Stars. Then ''Slapshot'' started to get new life breathed into it, and Dave and his fellow Hanson Brothers became cult figures.
Even though Dave's NHL career ended, his other hockey career took off and he has everyone putting on the foils.
You'll (Eddie) surely love this book. 0therwise, you'll feel shame.
Daves' A Killer, author that is! October 4, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have read many literature articles over the years and this I must say ranks as the best ever. Mr. Dave "Killer" Hanson has written a very poignant story about his life and a movie that is the best sports movie to date. The violent battles and off ice shenanigans are extraordinarily told by the man who did them and a movie deal about this book is certainly forthcoming. I can truthfully say buy this book and you won't be disappointed. Dave you are a "Killer!"
